Last updated October 30, 2026. Because at ai.philmaps.com, where your AI assistant makes argument maps, is run by Disagree Wisely, Inc. ("we"), a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit. Questions: info@disagreewisely.org. The Because editor used on its own, at app.philmaps.com, has its own terms.

The service

Because lets an AI assistant you choose make and revise argument maps, and lets you view, edit and comment on them in the Because editor. It is free and experimental: features may change, and the service may be interrupted or withdrawn. We will give notice on this site before withdrawing it, so that you can download your maps.

Your maps

Your maps are yours. You allow us to store and process them to run Because for you, and, for reports you send us, to read them to improve Because. The privacy notice says what we keep and for how long. Anyone with a map's link can open and edit it, so share links with care.

Using Because fairly

Do not use Because to store or share unlawful material, to harass anyone, or to break, overload or probe the service, and do not use it to store content that has nothing to do with argument maps. We may remove content or close an account that breaks these rules, and limit use that burdens the service.

Your assistant

Your assistant (Claude, ChatGPT or another) is provided by its own company under its own terms. Because does not control what your assistant writes, and you should check the maps it makes before relying on them.

No warranty

Because is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Disagree Wisely, Inc. is not liable for any loss arising from your use of Because, including loss of data. Keep your own copy of any map that matters to you: File, Download a copy, in the editor.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date above says when they last changed, and continuing to use Because after a change means you accept it.
